Team from Greater Beckley Christian School wins 30th annual WVU Pumpkin Drop

While nearly 400 pumpkins flew off the roof of West Virginia University’s Engineering Sciences Building one—from team no. 102A from the Greater Beckley Christian School in Prosperity —not only survived the 11-story drop but landed closest to the target. The winning pumpkin landed two-feet, four-inches from the target, earning them the $100 Pumpkin Drop first prize.

WVU researcher examines mindfulness

The mindfulness movement has grown in popularity over the past two decades, but research on its effectiveness is still catching up. According to a West Virginia University neuroscientist, increasing the precision of mindfulness research can multiply the potential benefits that meditation and similar practices impart.

WVU LaunchLab hosts inaugural Women’s Pitch Competition

West Virginia University’s LaunchLab Network hosted its first Women’s Pitch Competition on Oct. 26 to encourage female students to push the limits of their entrepreneurial ideas, develop products and business models and showcase the results in a tightly-timed presentation to a panel of judges.

2018 Football Schedule Released

West Virginia University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Shane Lyons, in conjunction with the Big 12 Conference, has announced the 2018 football schedule. Six home dates, two Power 5 non-conference road games in the state of North Carolina and four Big 12 Conference road dates comprise the upcoming schedule.

WVU releases May 2018 Commencement Ceremony Information

West Virginia University’s May 2018 graduates will be honored during Commencement weekend, May 11-13. Graduates planning to participate in commencement exercises must register with their school or college during the Spring 2018 semester. Students and parents are encouraged to check the graduation website often in the months and weeks leading up to commencement weekend where information will be added as more details are confirmed.

The National Jurist and preLaw Magazine have once again named West Virginia University College of Law a best value. WVU Law scored an A-, which is a higher grade than 160 other law schools approved by the American Bar Association.
