The West Virginia University Foundation is honoring dedicated WVU supporters with 2023 Outstanding Philanthropy Awards in recognition of their exceptional generosity, leadership, and commitment to the University and its land-grant mission.

Five students named WVU Mountaineers of Distinction

West Virginia University has named Olivia Dowler, Sophia Flower, Rachel Johnson, Thomas Williams and Natalie Wonsettler the 2023 Mountaineers of Distinction, a Mountaineer Week tradition that recognizes exemplary academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.

Mitchell and Quarrick named WVU Homecoming Royalty, Alumni awards presented

A celebration of past moments and the creation of new Homecoming memories culminated at West Virginia University Saturday (Oct. 21) with the crowning of Romeo Mitchell Jr. and Olivia Quarrick as the 2023 Homecoming Royalty during halftime at the football game against Oklahoma State University.

Don Nehlen to be immortalized in Milan Puskar Stadium

The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will immortalize legendary Hall of Fame football coach Don Nehlen in Milan Puskar Stadium during the Cincinnati game on Saturday, Nov. 18, by adding his name to the all-time greats on the Diversified Energy Terrace. Nehlen guided his WVU teams to 13 bowl game appearances, 17 winning seasons and the 1993 Big East Conference title, and his 1988 and 1993 squads finished the regular seasons with undefeated records.

Alumni couple’s planned gift pays tribute to WVU family impact

The planned gift from Gregory and Amber Nailler, of Mars, Pennsylvania, will provide support for the West Virginia University football program, the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, WVU Medicine Children’s and the Country Roads program led by the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities.

WVU Baseball solidifies future leadership

West Virginia University Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced Monday (July 17) Randy Mazey has decided the upcoming 2024 baseball season will be his last one as head coach for the Mountaineers before he transitions to a senior advisor role within the baseball program.
