West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesWHAT: The media are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours celebrating the opening of the $6.3 million West Virginia University Extension State Fire Training Academy on the campus of WVU Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Camp, near Weston.
WHEN: 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24
WHO: David Miller, associate provost for WVU Extension and Public Service, will be the master of ceremonies for the brief program. More than 160 guests will participate including representatives from West Virginia American Water, the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and firefighters and other first responders from throughout the state. Special guests will be the teens participating in this week’s West Virginia 2008 Junior Firefighter Camp, which is taught by WVU Fire Service Extension faculty (related release at http://wvutoday.wvu.edu/news/page/6917/).
WHERE: The fire training academy is on a newly developed portion of WVU Jackson’s Mill campus. The entrance to the academy is off of Old Mill Road. To reach the academy, take Jackson’s Mill Road past the Mill’s main entrance. Go to the stop sign at the corner of Jackson’s Mill and Old Mill roads. Turn left. Drive about 1-and-a-half miles.
