WVU psychology department welcomes new faculty
The West Virginia University Department of Psychology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences recently welcomed two new faculty members – Amy Gentzler and Elisa Krackow.
Gentzler is an assistant professor in the WVU Life-Span Developmental Psychology Program.
She earned her bachelor’s in psychology from Miami University and her master’s and doctorate in social psychology from Kent State University.
Gentzler completed her postdoctoral research fellowship in developmental psychopathology at George Washington University, where she received a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health.
She was appointed senior research psychologist at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she later joined the Department of Psychiatry as a faculty instructor.
Gentzler’s current research interests involve emotion regulation in children and adolescents.
Krackow, assistant professor in the WVU Clinical Child Psychology Program, earned her bachelor’s in psychology from Rutgers University, as well as a master’s in social work from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate in psychology from Binghamton University-State University of New York.
She completed clinical internship training at the Department of Psychiatry’s Institute for Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Krackow joins the WVU Department of Psychology after serving three years as assistant professor in Northern Illinois University’s Department of Psychology.
Her research interests include identification of factors that influence and improve the accuracy and malleability of children’s memory and cognitive processes in the development and maintenance of child depression.
