West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesWest Virginia University is hosting a free concert with the Tuba and Euphonium Quartet of the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band, “Pershing’s Own,” at 8:15 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 21) in the Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale Campus.
The program will be in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A). Musicians include Sgt. 1st Class Neal Corwell and Staff Sgt. Dean Miller, both on euphoniums, as well as Staff Sgts. Charles Giannelli and Tim Royster, who will play tubas.
Miller is an alumnus of WVU who graduated with a degree in music education in 2000. Corwell studied with WVU tuba professor Dave McCollum at Frostburg State University in Maryland.
The program will include “Sonata” by Biagio Marini, featuring Giannelli and Royster with WVU student Seyoung Jeong on piano; “The Dream” by Neal Corwell, featuring Giannelli and Corwell; “Bassoon Concerto” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; “Pastorale” by Jan Kryzwicki, featuring Miller and Jeong; “Cappriccio” by Krzysztof Penderecki, featuring Royster; and “Heart of a Wolf” and “Dandy Noodles” written and performed by Corwell.
