'Oktoberfest Meets Morgantown' in family event at Krepps Park

Wilkommen!

The 2007 celebration of Oktoberfest Meets Morgantown is set for Sunday, Oct. 7, at Krepps Park.

This is the third annual event that features a day of food, fun and the chance to support German language classes in the region and study abroad offerings at West Virginia University and Bethany College.

Lace up your cleats for the fussball/soccer tournament from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., which will field teams of high school students, college students and WVU faculty.

Bring your appetite to the buffet from 1- 3 p.m. with authentic German potato salad, strudel, bratwurst and more.

Take in the puppet show by the Kasperle Theatre from 1:40-2 p.m., and get in line for the Rummel amusement park from 2-3:30 p.m.

There’s even an Oktoberfest lottery to help support German language lessons and study abroad programs.

“The Oktoberfest is a wonderful way to bring people in our community together who have a connection to the culture,” said Dr. Deborah Janson, an associate professor of German at WVU.

The cost for the buffet is $3 for adults and $1 for students. Children under 6 dine free. Proceeds and other donations benefit Kinderstunde language programs and study abroad trips to German-speaking countries.

Oktoberfest is sponsored by the West Virginia Friends of German, which includes foreign language faculty and staff from WVU and Bethany College; the German language clubs of Morgantown High School and University High School; and others from the community.
