WVU student club to host food preservation workshop Sept. 25

It’s harvest time, and you’ve got a bushel of tomatoes that are going from ripe to rotten faster than you can eat them. What can you do?

West Virginia University’s Plant and Soil Sciences Club wants to offer you some ideas on that front. The group is sponsoring a food preservation workshop at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in room 110 of the Agricultural Sciences Annex.

The workshop will be presented by Guen Brown, a specialist with WVU Extension’s Families and Health Unit.

Brown will offer an introduction to techniques such as canning, freezing and drying, with hands-on demonstrations.

The workshop is free and open to the public.
