WVU Social Work sets 'Nonprofit Management Series' dates for Morgantown

West Virginia University’s Division of Social Work launches its “Nonprofit Management Series” in Morgantown Sept. 27. The five-week sessions are geared to social work professionals overseeing nonprofit efforts in north-central West Virginia.

    The Thursday sessions will be from 8-10 a.m. in the Mountainlair Laurel Room. Sessions are approved for two hours’ of continuing education for social workers; or two hours’ to WVU’s Continuing Education Certificate in Nonprofit Management program. The cost is $25 per workshop or $90 for all six sessions.

The topics:

  • Sept. 27: “Introduction to Planned Giving for the Nonprofit”
  • Oct. 11: “Cash Management for the Small Nonprofit Organization”
  • Oct. 25: “Ten Commandments of Nonprofit Governance”
  • Nov. 15: “Measuring Program Outcomes”
  • Nov. 29: “Creating a Positive Team Climate in the Workplace”

Additional sessions in volunteer management and employment and team-building will be Oct. 23 and Nov. 14.

Other workshops are also being offered in Clarksburg later this fall. If you’re interested in attending a combination of two-hour sessions in both Morgantown and Clarksburg, sign up for at least four workshops and pay $15 per session.
