'WVU News' now available as podcast

West Virginia University Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism’s student-produced news program, “WVU News”, is now available as a downloadable podcast.

According to broadcast news instructor Gina Martino Dahlia, the online podcast will continue to raise the profile of the broadcast news program at WVU.

“The podcasts are another avenue to have our students’ voices heard,” Dahlia said. “We have new students saying that they came here because they saw “WVU News” on TV. What’s going to happen now that everyone in the world can see it?”

When “WVU News” was launched in 1993, the program could only be viewed on closed-circuit television in the Mountainlair. Since 1998, the program has been airing statewide on West Virginia Public Television.

“There has been a major shift in the way people consume media, especially the news,” said Maryanne Reed, dean of the school of journalism. “The University recognized the value of this program and is now making it available to today’s generation of student viewers.”

“WVU News” is available as a downloadable podcast from WVU Website at http://wvudownloads.wvu.edu/.
