West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesWest Virginia University jazz musicians will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (March 22) in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the WVU Creative Arts Center.
Conducted by Paul Scea, director of jazz studies, and graduate students Adam Osmianski and Nathan Underwood, the concert will feature WVU’s Cannonball Trane, Jazz Ensembles I and II and Latin Jazz Ensemble.
The program will include “I Could Write a Book” by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, “If I Were a Bell” by Frank Loesser, “Basie Straight Ahead” and “Double Exposure” by Sammy Nestico, “Up Jumped Spring” by Freddie Hubbard, “Where’s the Boat?” by WVU student Jon Cavendish, “La Sopa en Botella” by Celia Cruz, “Take Five” by Paul Desmond, “Speak Like a Child” by Herbie Hancock, “Voyage” by Kenny Barron” and “Em Uma Semana” by Alan Baylock.
