West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesFifteen months after the Sago Mine tragedy, the issue of coal mine safety continues to remain at the forefront of public and private discussion.
Some progress has been made toward protecting miners, but many experts agree a variety of factors have kept progress from moving as quickly and as completely as it could.
A blue-ribbon panel of the nation’s top mine safety advocates will look at where the issue has been and where it’s going in a discussion, “Thinking Outside of the Box: A Post-Sago Look at Coal Mine Safety,” from 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the West Virginia College of Law Lugar Courtroom. Hosting the forum is the West Virginia Law Review.
