WVU to host percussion recital by Brett Dietz March 18

Brett Dietz, a guest artist of the West Virginia University Division of Music who is a noted percussionist and composer, will present a recital at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at the Creative Arts Center.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will be in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre.

Dietz’s work will also be featured on the program of a concert by the WVU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band Tuesday, March 20.

Dietz is a composer and percussion instructor at Louisiana State University. He received a bachelor’s of music in percussion and a master’s of music in composition/theory from the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University. Dietz’s music has been performed throughout the United States, Europe, Sweden, Korea and Australia by numerous ensembles.

He is also a founding member of Tempus Fugit Percussion Ensemble and has performed with the group throughout the United States and Europe since 1993.
