WVU Symphony Orchestra concert features award-winning young artists Thursday

The West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Harvey Felder, will present its annual Young Artists Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the Creative Arts Center.

The Young Artists Competition is open to all full-time junior, senior and graduate student music majors. The winners represent the highest level of student performance at WVU.

This year’s program includes “Poem for Flute and Orchestra” by Charles T. Griffes, featuring Ruth Miltenberger, flute soloist; “Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22” by Camille Saint-Saens, featuring Sun Jung Lee, piano soloist; and “Rhapsodie on a Theme by Paganini for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 43” by Sergei Rachmaninoff, featuring piano soloist Patrick Weikle.
