West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesFunnyman Ron White returns to Morgantown as a part of the “You Can’t Fix Stupid” comedy tour. Two shows are scheduled at the WVU Creative Arts Center on April 13 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Tickets for the performances go on sale Monday (Jan. 29) at 9 a.m. at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, all Ticketmaster outlets, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or at 292-0220. All tickets are $41.25 and WVU students receive a $5 discount with a valid Mountaineer Card when purchased at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices.
White is best known as the cigar smoking, scotch drinking comedian from the “Blue Collar Comedy” phenomenon. He has established himself as a star with two recent Grammy nominations and several major releases, including a new CD, DVD and book.
His current Comedy Central special “You Can’t Fix Stupid” drew 4.5 million viewers. The companion CD landed at No. 14 on Billboard’s Top 200, was ranked No.1 on the Billboard Comedy charts for nine consecutive weeks, and was nominated for a Grammy award. White received a second Grammy nod for the album Blue Collar Comedy Tour—One for the Road.
In June, Penguin Books released Ron ‘Tater Salad’ White: I Had the Right to Remain Silent … But I Didn’t Have the Ability. The story of White’s life and comedy found its place at No. 15 on the New York Times Bestseller List.
For three years White performed with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy in the highly acclaimed “Blue Collar Comedy Tour.” The show played in more than 90 cities and grossed over $15 million. Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie premiered as the highest rated movie in Comedy Central’s history. White recently reunited with the Blue Collar crew to film Blue Collar Comedy Tour—One for the Road, which also debuted on Comedy Central.
White’s first solo comedy album Drunk in Public has been in the Top 10 of the Billboard Comedy Charts since February 2004 and has sold over 450,000 copies. His first Comedy Central special “They Call Me Tater Salad” also premiered that year and gave the network its highest rated Sunday in history. The companion DVD has sold 1.3 million copies and has been certified multi-platinum. “The Ron White Show,” a comedy special filmed for the WB network, aired in April 2005 to 4 million viewers.
