Service fraternity to ring bell in memory of WVU student

West Virginia University’s Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity will ring the bell of the Armored Cruiser USS West Virginia Friday (April 1) in remembrance of a WVU student who died from injuries sustained in a car accident over spring break (March 12-20).

Brian Yerkes, 20, a sophomore business major, suffered severe head injuries during the accident near his home in South Riding, Va. He died March 24.

Friday’s bell-ringing ceremony begins at 11:50 a.m. outside Oglebay Hall. Family, friends and members of the University community are welcome to attend the service.
