West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesA biblical scholar will discuss the representations of the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ – from the earliest-known examples to Mel Gibson’s recent film, “The Passion of the Christ” – during a guest lecture at West Virginia University.
Dr. Sheila E. McGinn, professor of biblical studies and early Christianity at John Carroll University, will present a visual exploration, “Passions about the Passion: Portrayals of the Passion of Christ from A.D. 200 to 2004,” on Tuesday, March 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in G-21 White Hall, on the WVU Downtown Campus. This event is free and open to the public.
McGinn is the author of numerous scholarly articles and books which include a commentary on the Gospel of Matthew, a bibliography of 20th Century research on the Book of Revelation, popular articles on the Left Behind series of books, and issues relating to women in the New Testament. She is currently working on a history of the first century of Christianity.
