Public invited to free Zumba demo at WVU

Interested in seeing the latest Latin-inspired fitness craze?

The West Virginia University School of Physical Education will be offering a free Zumba demonstration from 7-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in the Stansbury Hall aerobic room.

Zumba workouts combine high-energy and motivating Latin rhythms with cardio exercise to create an aerobic routine that is fun and easy to follow, said Nancy Naternicola, fitness and wellness director at WVU’s School of Physical Education.

Zumba targets areas such as the gluteus, legs, arms, abdominals and the heart. Monday’s demonstration will feature live drums.

Zumba and other fitness classes, offered through the School of Physical Education Lifetime Activities Program, are an outgrowth of the WVU Nutrition and Wellness Initiative launched in 2004 by WVU President David C. Hardesty Jr.

A schedule of spring classes will be available online at http://www.wvu.edu/~physed/lap.htm in December.
