Poet Lease to give reading at WVU

Noted poet Joseph Lease will visit the West Virginia University campus to give a reading at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in the Mountainlair Rhododendron Room.

Lease’s books of poetry include the forthcoming “Broken World” and “Human Rights.” His poem “Broken World” was selected for The Best American Poetry 2002.

His work has also appeared in The AGNI 30 th Anniversary Poetry Anthology, Bay Poetics, The Boston Review, Colorado Review, Grand Street, Paris Review, Volt, Xantippe, Denver Quarterly, Five Fingers Review and elsewhere.

Lease is an associate professor of writing and literature at California College of the Arts.

A reception and book-signing will follow the reading, which is free and open to the public. The WVU Department of English and the Creative Organization of Writers – WVU’s association of graduate students in creative writing – are sponsoring Lease’s visit.
