Student `victims’ needed for Nov. 15 mock disaster drill

Participants are needed to serve as "mock victims" with a variety of injuries for an upcoming full scale exercise to test and help prepare hospital and emergency medical providers in Morgantown and Monongalia County in the event of a disaster.

The exercise is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15, from approximately 5-9 p.m. with an information and training session to begin at 2 p.m. at the PreteBuilding on University Ave. Those interested in participating (must be 18 or older) should provide name, phone number and email address to Dave Custer, exercise coordinator, cust60@aol.com by Monday, Nov. 11.

Participants should bring identification to the exercise when registering. Food, beverages and bathroom facilities will be provided.

The exercise is part of a Department of Defense/Office of Domestic Preparedness Homeland Security grant awarded to the WVU Virtual Medical Campus to test the emergency medical response system.

For additional questions, call Custer at 987-1286 or the Morgantown Fire Dept., 284-7480.
