Moratoriums lifted on WVU rugby clubs

West Virginia University officials on Thursday (Sept. 27) lifted moratoriums on both the men’s and women’s rugby clubs.

The action means the clubs will be able to resume play this weekend. Vice President for Student Affairs Ken Gray, whose office overseas student organizations and clubs, said both clubs have met all the conditions of their moratoriums and have been cooperative in response to the sanctions imposed.

The WVU men’s Rugby Club was placed on a moratorium Sept. 7 following several allegations brought to the attention of the vice president’s office. On Sept. 21, the women’s team was also placed on a moratorium.

Representatives of both clubs have agreed to certain behavioral guidelines and to meet regularly with university officials who will closely monitor the clubs’ activities.
