Higher Education Policy Commission meets Friday at WVU

When the state’s Higher Education Policy Commission meets Friday (Sept. 21) on the West Virginia University campus, the agenda will include allocation of funding from the Legislature for community college and technical education and special projects.

Chancellor J. Michael Mullen will present preliminary estimates of fall headcount enrollment at each of the state’s public colleges and universities.

Other issues to be discussed include:

  • An assessment of 2001 West Virginia high school graduates’ performance on the ACT standardized test
  • Approval of new mission statements for Fairmont State College, Shepherd College and West Virginia State College and
  • WVU’s plan to buy property in Sunnyside to create more room for parking and possible future expansion.

Committee meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. with the full commission meeting to follow at approximately 10:30 a.m. All meetings will he held at Erickson Alumni Center.
