WVU, NSF co-host national conference defining future of biometrics research agenda; officials to brief reporters on discussions

WHAT: Officials will brief media on the results of a three-day workshop involving 55 national and international biometrics experts. The workshops were hosted by West Virginia University's Biometrics Knowledge Center and sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Participants are deliberating research issues ranging from the development of new biometric identification technologies to societal implications of measuring human characteristics for purposes of identification. WVU was chosen to host the conference because of its comprehensive research involving biometrics and its complimentary academic curricula leading to a one-of-a-kind degree in forensic identification with a major in biometrics.
