West Virginia University - News and Information ServicesWest Virginia University will host the sixth annual West Virginia Writers’ Workshop Aug. 1-4.
The featured writers for this year’s workshop include Dawn Raffel, executive articles editor of O, The Oprah Magazine; David St. John, author of Study for the World’s Body, which was a finalist for the National Book Award; poet Erin Belieu, author of One Above & One Below; and novelist Michael C. White, whose book, A Brother’s Blood, was a New York Times Notable Book of 1996 and a Barnes and Nobel Discover Great New Writers nominee.
These faculty will lead workshops as well as offer one-on-one tutorials with the conference participants. Faculty participating in the conference by providing craft classes include Jeremy Countryman, managing editor of Ohio University’s new literary magazine, Hotel Amerika; Ben Doyle, winner of the Walt Whitman Award for his first book of poetry, Radio, Radio; John Hoppenthaler, author of Lives of Water; and faculty authors Gail Galloway Adams, Mark Brazaitis and James Harms.
