October 29th, 2012WVU Professors Jack Watson II and Sam Zizzi, both with Sport and Exercise Psychology at the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, have been named Fellows of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, an international professional organization that promotes the field of sport and exercise psychology. -
To better understand the benefit of physical activity in society and the investment related to public trail projects, a multi-disciplinary research team that includes WVU faculty members is studying the cost effectiveness of using such trails to promote physical activity.

September 13th, 2012Mathew Lively, a professor of medicine and pediatrics at WVU's Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, has established a scholarship called The Golden Scissors Award to recognize an athletic training student from each class who has exhibited outstanding clinical service in providing care for student-athletes. -

At the event, the sport management program will present the distinguished alumnus award to Whit Babcock who is director of athletics at the University of Cincinnati. -
Dr. Eloise Elliott, a national leader in the effort to combat obesity, will provide insight on current collaborative efforts to improve physical activity at a national conference and as a guest lecturer at Texas A&M University in the next few weeks.
