WVU's Whitelam earns prestigious internship
April 18th, 2012WVU's Cameron Whitelam, a doctoral student at the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering, earned a prestigious internship out of a competitive pool of 5,000 applicants. Whitelam was accepted to the Office of Naval Research through the Naval Research Enterprise Internship program at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, in Philadelphia. -

February 3rd, 2012The West Virginia University Department of History, in conjunction with the Slavic and East European Studies program, presents the 2012 Callahan Lecture, "Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin." This year's lecture features guest speaker Timothy D. Snyder, Housum Professor of History at Yale University. The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at 7 p.m. in G9 Woodburn Hall. It is free and open to the public. -
WVU Board approves RTF gifts: Ruby Trust tops off gift at $10 million for graduate research at WVU
December 16th, 2011Graduate research at West Virginia University has received another boost from the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust, with a $400,000 gift, to be matched by the state's Research Trust Fund, bringing the total commitment for the Ruby Scholars Graduate Fellows Program to $10 million. -
WVU taking long view of hydrofracking's impact on well water quality

In recent years, the golden-winged warbler has been experiencing population declines throughout the northeastern United States, with the Mountain State experiencing a particularly sharp decline. November 10th, 2011Faced statistics from a 2011 report on the needs of veterans returning to the labor force that showed a higher-than-average unemployment rate and a threefold increase in post-traumatic stress disorder over the last decade, a team of West Virginia University researchers and an area non-profit are partnering with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to see if dogs can help veterans both recover and return to the workforce. -
