WVU places among top companies for marketing in MarCom Awards
November 13th, 2012West Virginia University's University Relation's Division won a record seven top awards in the international MarCom Awards, which recognize outstanding creative achievement in the marketing and communications fields. Joyce Wang, Ryan Sigler and Jennifer Steele are the 2011 winners of WVU's Nicholas Evans Advising Awards. The awards -- given annually to a graduate assistant, professional and faculty member -- honor Dr. Nicholas Evans, a lifelong proponent and exemplar of excellent undergraduate advising.

WVU earns Carnegie Foundation's Community Engagement Classification
January 5th, 2011The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized the scope and success of WVU's impact by selecting the University for the 2010 Community Engagement Classification, putting WVU in the 6 percent of higher education institutions that Carnegie recognizes for engagement out of all U.S. institutions. It is the only institution in West Virginia the foundation recognizes for its community engagement. -
Dedicated Mountaineers to be recognized for service during Homecoming
October 15th, 2010As part of the 2010 Homecoming celebration, the WVU Alumni Association will honor six alumni for their outstanding service and commitment to their alma mater. The awards will be presented during the halftime celebration of the WVU-Syracuse game on Oct. 23. -
WVU's College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences to induct four into 2010 Hall of Fame and name outstanding alumnus
October 7th, 2010On Friday, Oct. 15 the West Virginia University College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences will induct four graduates into its 2010 Hall of Fame and name its 2010 Outstanding Alumnus at the Erickson Alumni Center. This will be the 23RD anniversary of the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences' Hall of Fame. A reception will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and the formal induction ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. -

WVU chemistry professor aids national security against cyber attacks; wins 2009 DARPA Young Faculty Award
February 25th, 2010As technology evolves, combating cyber attacks becomes a greater risk for the United States. Jonathan Boyd, professor in the C. Eugene Bennett Department of Chemistry in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University, has developed techniques that could be used to design faster, more efficient and effective network security measures with fewer false alarms and failures. -
