Thirty years ago today, November 10, 1979, West Virginia University played its final football game at old Mountaineer Field. For the nostalgic, Mountaineer Field was quaint and inviting. To the practical, its better days were far behind it.
Ten West Virginia University athletes will share personal stories Tuesday, Nov. 11 as part of a unique speech class. Each student will deliver a five-minute motivational speech in front of coaches, fellow students and the public from 1-2 p.m. in the Jerry West Mountaineer Room of the WVU Coliseum.

The West Virginia men's basketball team has been picked to finish second in the Preseason Big East Coaches' Poll. The Mountaineers earn their highest preseason conference ranking since joining the conference in 1995.
Olympic competitor and WVU Rifle Team Head Coach Jon Hammond will lead hundreds of participants in the WVU Homecoming parade on Friday, Oct. 23. He also will be honored at halftime of the WVU-Connecticut football game on Oct. 24.
