WVU alumni chapters 'Fight Cancer' during special community service event
February 16th, 2012West Virginia University basketball Coach Bob Huggins has been a strong voice for cancer research. His Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Fund was created in memory of his mother who passed away from the illness. Now, alumni and friends all over the country are joining his crusade by hosting game watches in support of the fund. -

Alumni and friends celebrate WVU at Capital Classic Luncheon in Charleston
January 13th, 2012A record crowd of alumni and friends will celebrate West Virginia University and its land-grant mission as part of the 16th Annual Capital Classic luncheon. The sold-out event, hosted by the WVU Alumni Association,will be held at noon Jan. 18 at the Charleston Embassy Suites. More than 35 affiliates, divisions, units, schools and colleges of WVU are set to participate in the luncheon which takes place prior to the WVU-Marshall men?s basketball game. -

WVU alumni chapter raises funds to support couple that lost house in fire
November 30th, 2011Sam and Julie Kurcaba married on Oct. 22 at The Erickson Alumni Center and are active members at the West Virginia University Alumni Association?s University Chapter. On Nov. 13, the two cheered on the Mountaineers at the Cincinnati game, but received a call at 3 a.m. They packed their bags and drove 300 miles to Morgantown only to find a devastating fire had burned their house to the ground. -

Zuccari family establishes 'giving wall' for future generations of Mountaineers at WVU
November 14th, 2011The Zuccari family has strong ties to the Mountaineer community. Born and raised in Morgantown, W.Va., Alan Zuccari received his education at West Virginia University and after graduation moved to Northern Virginia where he started a successful business, married his wife, Lisa, and raised his three children: Jason, a 2010 WVU graduate and former student government leader, and current WVU students Jarred and Sara. Alan Zuccari, also a former WVU student body president, continues his commitment to the University by serving on the WVU Foundation Board of Directors. -

Doug and Pamela Smith Van Scoy have created an endowment through the WVU Foundation that will fund a scholarship for one student per academic rank each year. -
