WVU DC alumni chapter celebrates 35 years of food, fun, scholarship and Mountaineer spirit
August 21st, 2012In 1977 a group of dedicated Mountaineers met in West Virginia University alumnus Jim Edmundson?s backyard to enjoy camaraderie and celebrate WVU. It would go on to become one of the largest and most active alumni groups in the country. -
This year the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Since its inception in 1937, the Fund has provided academic support ? more than $5 million-- for more than 3,800 West Virginia students attending WVU.

Charleston native joins WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors

The excitement surrounding the 2012 West Virginia University football season can be felt throughout the Mountaineer nation. The University Chapter in Morgantown is ready to kick off the start of a new season and a new conference with its annual Countdown to Kickoff. The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at The Erickson Alumni Center, and will feature WVU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Oliver Luck as the guest speaker.

June 28th, 2012WVU enters the Big 12 with a strong academic and athletic record. WVU now has 22 Truman Scholars, and this year, the University's 34th and 35th Goldwater Scholars were named. Just this month, WVU announced its fifth Fulbright Scholar of the year -- the most for the University ever in one year. Student enrollment continues to climb to record highs. -

The West Virginia University Alumni Association elected three new members to its Board of Directors during its annual meeting held May 12. Mike John of Charleston, W.Va.; Richard Stephens of Madison, W.Va.; and Woody Thrasher of Clarksburg, W.Va., were elected to serve a two-year and six-year terms, respectively.
