Search committee appointed for new chief information officer at WVU

Maryanne Reed, dean of the Reed College of Media, will chair the screening committee for the new chief information officer for West Virginia University. This position will report directly to Vice Provost John Campbell.

Other members of the search committee include:

Dan Durbin, senior associate vice president, Administration and Finance

Laura Roth, assistant vice president, Information Technology at Health Sciences Center

Vicki Smith, interim executive director, Information Technology Services

Elizabeth Hamilton, assistant vice president for strategic action, Office of the Provost

Sheena Murphy, associate vice president for research development, WVU Research Office

Melissa Sotelo, interim manager, Human Resources

The new CIO will step into the role that brought Campbell to WVU in 2013. He was appointed vice provost this month.

“We are looking for someone who is at the forefront of information technology innovation on university campuses,” said Campbell, who is currently serving as interim CIO. “We also want a leader with vision and skill in consensus-building to head up our exceptional ITS team.”

A full description of the position, its duties and responsibilities, is posted here. The university has retained executive search firm Next Generation to assist with this search. A summer 2017 start date is anticipated for the new CIO.
