West Virginia University and Student Life Events will host the inaugural 5th Quarter event immediately following the WVU vs Kansas State football game on Sat. (Oct. 1) in Woodburn Circle. Starting at approximately 6:30 p.m., students are invited to stop by for food, music and entertainment.

Homecoming marks a special time at WVU as we look forward each year to bringing students, alumni and the community together to celebrate,” said West Virginia University’s Associate Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students Corey Farris. “As we work together to shift the culture on campus, we hope the 5th Quarter will become a special tradition at WVU where students can celebrate Homecoming weekend in a safe and fun environment after the game.”

The event will feature inflatable couches, a huge movie lounge, rock wall, sports MEGA inflatable, mini golf, music and food from Chick-Fil-A, Krispy Kreme Donuts, a nacho bar and drinks from Coca-Cola, along with other snacks.

The event will conclude in Woodburn Circle at 11 p.m. and continue at WVUp All Night in the Mountainlair where students can build-a-bear, decorate t-shirts and enjoy other activities and carnival snacks.

“The idea for a new post-game tradition has been floating around for years. The concept came from seeing how much energy students had after games and especially Mountaineer victories,” said Abundance Hunt, a sophomore exercise physiology major and Student Government Association athletic counselor from Lewisburg. “I hope giving students a place that’s fun and engaging after sporting events will be a huge success at WVU.”

“Like Tent City, we want to provide our students with positive opportunities to show their school spirit and celebrate Homecoming. We want Homecoming to be a memorable experience for students,” Farris said.

The 5th Quarter event is free for students and they are welcome to bring one guest.
