Learn to empower, lead and gain entrepreneurial skills at the Ice House Facilitator Training held Oct. 25 to 27 at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown. Hosted by the WVU Extension Service and WVU Launch Lab, the three-day training aims to help participants become instructors of the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program, an experiential, problem-based learning program that inspires and teaches others to think and act with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Participants who complete the training will be certified to teach the Ice House Program within their own communities.

“The Ice House Facilitator Training is designed to not only benefit participants in their own lives and careers, but also equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach and empower others to do the same,” said Jennifer Williams, associate dean of partnerships and initiatives at the WVU Extension Service. “Participants should walk away with the understanding of how to bridge the gap between the community and the classroom by engaging in the entrepreneurial process.”

The training mirrors the teachings of the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative, an organization created to equip participants with skills necessary to succeed in the modern day workplace. The initiative aims to expand entrepreneurial mindset education and empower critical thinking, collaboration, communication, problem solving skills and teamwork capabilities.

Registration opens Friday, Sept. 9. Spaces are limited. The cost for the three-day training is $1,100.

Participants can also choose to attend the Redefining Entrepreneurship Keynote from Gary Schoeniger, founder of the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative and co-author of “Who Owns the Ice House? Eight Life Lessons from an Unlikely Entrepreneur”. The session will be held Monday (Oct. 24) at 6 p.m. at Hatfields in the WVU Mountainlair. Learn more and register for the keynote session here.

Hotel reservations can be made at the Holiday Inn in Morgantown. To learn more about or register for the training, visit bit.ly/ExtIceHouse.
