Area youth will once again learn new life skills while enjoying physical activities through West Virginia University’s College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Lifetime Activities, a community program for children. The 2016 summer program includes fitness and wellness classes and youth camps. Class details and registration are available online at the Lifetime Activities web site.

Summer camps include the National Youth Sports Program for children ages 10-16, June 21 – July 15. Activities will be held at various locations on the WVU campus. The daily sessions run from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. NYSP provides campers a chance to learn new sports and activities, while teaching the importance of being physically active and emphasizing positive emotional and physical well-being. Daily lunch and bus transportation are provided. NYSP is a summer food service program site.

The WVU Sports Medicine/Athletic Training Camp is open for children ages 13-18 on Aug. 8 in the CPASS building, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Sports Medicine/Athletic Training camp is for students interested in the medical field. This program will provide students with an opportunity to learn about common sports medicine topics such as hydration, concussions, injury prevention and musculoskeletal injuries. There will be lectures and labs as well as tour stops around campus to visit training facilities.

The Blue and Gold Kids Club is a summer day camp designed for elementary aged children, 5-11. The camp promotes new skills while making friends in a fun and safe environment. Campers will experience a variety of weekly activities, grouped with their peers, including a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, games and songs, swimming, sports, fitness, arts and more. Weekly sessions run from June 13 through July 8 in the WVU Health and Education building, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
