West Virginia University’s Personal Rapid Transit system will suspend service over the summer as the University continues to modernize the PRT as part of a $100 million revitalization effort to improve reliability and efficiency.

The PRT will suspend service beginning May 7 and resume normal operations Monday, Aug. 15. During this period, the University will offer the Mountaineer Station shuttle service starting the week of May 16.

The WVU shuttle service will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stops include Mountaineer Station, Towers, Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Mountainlair and Walnut Station. This is a free service for WVU students, faculty and staff. More information on the shuttle can be found at http://transportation.wvu.edu/prt/summer-schedule.

In addition, the Mountain Line “Blue and Gold Connector” route will be operating Monday through Friday from 6:40 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. with limited service on Saturdays and Sundays. This route will include Towers PRT, Towers, Oakland, Law School, Grant Avenue, Life Sciences, Beechurst, CAC, Engineering PRT, Evansdale Library and Allen Hall. WVU students and employees may ride the Mountain Line bus for free with a valid WVU ID. This summer, workers are continuing with phase 2 automatic train control modernization of the PRT as well as performing system upgrades and routine maintenance activities.
