West Virginia University’s Blue & Gold Mine Sale will begin collecting starting May 2 for the annual yard-sale like event that benefits area non-profits.

Students can drop off unwanted items at any WVU residence hall and anyone in the community can bring items to four locations around Morgantown that are located at Chateau Royale, on Falling Run Road, Seneca Center and Grant Avenue.

Collections will take place May 2-11, and the sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park. There is a $5 admission from 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Admission is free after that.

Acceptable items include but are not limited to furniture, clothing, appliances, dcor, sporting equipment, electronics, etc. Televisions and mattresses will not be accepted.

This event keeps about 30 tons of goods out of landfills annually, and all proceeds benefit the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.
