West Virginia University’s Collegiate Recovery Program is shining a new light on substance abuse with personal stories and a panel of experts ready to help addicts find their path to recovery.

A panel discussion and forum, “Multiple Pathways to Recovery,” will be held Monday, April 25, at 7 p.m., in the Gluck Theatre. WVU students, staff, and community members will share stories of overcoming addiction and explore what recovery means to them. The panel will discuss personal experiences with recovery from a range of addictions, including narcotics, alcohol, and eating disorders.

Additionally, multiple professionals will be on hand to field questions from the audience, including Dr. Kevin Blankenship, founder of Jacob’s Ladder, Herb Linn, assistant director for outreach at WVU Injury Control Research Center and Dr. Brian Quigley, medical director of psychiatry for WellWVU.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Cathy Yura at cathy.yura@mail.wvu.edu.

The WVU Collegiate Recovery Program was established in February 2016, and seeks to establish a community at the University for those both supporting and seeking a culture of recovery. While the program itself is not intended to provide counseling or direct recovery assistance, it seeks to surround students in various recovery programs and/or counseling with a supporting community to ensure they can still achieve academic success.
