“A powerful Inside-out Look at Race and Racism in America,” will be the topic for noted author, anti-racist essayist Tim Wise lecture for Monday, April 4 at 7:00 pm at Ming Hsieh Hall.

Wise is an articulate voice dealing with race and racism and is noted for his impassioned and personal take on white privilege and how that affects decisions and interactions with underrepresented populations.

Wise has spoken to more than 800 college and high school campuses and has provided anti-racism education to teachers, physicians, medical industry professionals and law enforcement officials on methods for dismantling racism in their institutions.

In this lecture, the author of the bestselling “White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son” offers a powerful inside-out look at race and racism in America, surveying the damage white privilege has done not only to people of color, but to white people themselves.

“Tim Wise is one of the most powerful voices in America in delineating how privilege affects decisions and perceptions. His analysis on the legacy of racism is brilliant,” says David M. Fryson, Vice President for the Division of Diversity.

This event is jointly sponsored by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Center for Black Culture and Research. The public is encouraged to attend.
