EXHIBIT: “Oversized Load”
Kaitlyn Hunter, a candidate for a Master of Fine Arts degree in the West Virginia University School of Art and Design, will present her MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Creative Arts Center’s Paul Mesaros Gallery, March 14-28. There will be a reception for the exhibition Monday, March 28, at 5 p.m. at the gallery. All events are free and open to the public. The Mesaros Galleries at the CAC are open Monday through Saturday, from noon to 9:30 p.m. The galleries are closed on Sundays and University holidays.

EXHIBIT: Megan Gainer
Megan Gainer’s work focuses on mending and holding things together. The Master of Fine Arts candidate often uses cloth and thread, objects common to her Appalachian heritage, her family, and her childhood. The WVU School of Art and Design student will present her MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Creative Arts Center’s Laura Mesaros Gallery March 28-April 1. The Mesaros Galleries at the CAC are open Monday through Saturday, from noon to 9:30 p.m. The galleries are closed on Sundays and University holidays.

LUNCHTIME LOOK: “Floral Landscape”
Art Museum of WVU docent Betsy Mullett will discuss a painting by American artist William E. Schumacher during the next “Lunchtime Looks” program Wednesday, March 30. West Virginia University, faculty and staff, and the general public are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to the Museum Education Center Grand Hall at noon and meet with other art enthusiasts to enjoy their midday meal. At 12:30 p.m., the group will move to the museum’s upper gallery for the 20-minute, in-depth look at Schumacher’s 1916 oil painting, “Floral Landscape.” The museum purchased the painting through the Myers Foundation Purchase Fund.

CONCERT: The Wheeling Jamboree
The Wheeling Jamboree has been bringing music from the heart of America to America’s heart since it first premiered in 1933. This iconic radio show is celebrating its 83rd anniversary with a live show at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Friday, April 1. The University Arts Series and the WVU College of Creative Arts’ Music Industry Program are collaborating on the April 1 Wheeling Jamboree show. Mon Hills Records, WVU’s record label, is also Steve Smith’s label. The WVU Bluegrass Band, comprised of talented WVU students, will also perform.
