Composer Johannes Brahms expressively depicted the flight of universal emotions one goes through when losing a loved one in his German Requiem. Close to 250 vocalists and instrumentalists will gather on stage to perform this powerful and incredibly relatable work of art.

An all-Brahms program, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will begin with the composer’s variations on a theme by Franz Joseph Haydn in the first half followed by German Requiem. Soloists include soprano Amy Little and a special guest baritone, West Virginia University College of Creative Arts Dean Paul Kreider. Also joining the WVSO will be members of the combined West Virginia University choirs and Fairmont State University Chorus.

WVU Director of Choral Activities Kym Scott is “excited that our singers will have the opportunity to perform this challenging music with an ensemble of the WVSO’s caliber.”
