The West Virginia University Personal Rapid Transit system will change its schedule this semester to test the new automatic train controls system as part of a multimillion-dollar modernization plan.

Saturday service will be suspended starting Saturday, Jan. 23., excepting certain special events. Beginning Monday, Jan. 25, the PRT will run from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. weekdays.

The University will be providing additional bus support, beyond the regular shuttle service, during the suspended hours of the PRT. In addition to the already availableMountain Linebus service routes,WVUwill operate buses on a continuous loop during the week from 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and from 8 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. The route covered will be between Mountaineer Station and the Mountainlair, with stops at Towers, Ag. Sciences, Engineering PRT, Creative Arts Center and Knapp Hall.

Saturday bus service will be from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the same route with additional stops at the Coliseum and ST-10 lot across from the Business and Economics building downtown.

Mountain Line schedules and routes canbe accessed online at http://busride.org/Maps-Schedules/WVU-Campus-Services or download theirmobile app. WVU bus schedule and routes can be viewed at http://transportation.wvu.edu/prt/wvu-bus-schedule.

Mountain Line Blue & Gold, Campus PM, Valley View, West Run, Tyrone, and Red Line routes will continue to operate on their normal schedules for the 2016 spring semester.

These schedule changes will provide the vendor with ample time to test the PRT’s new automatic train controls system and continue with software development.WVU Transportation and Parking appreciates your patience and looks forward to serving your transportation needs.
