The expansion of off-campus vendors accepting Mountie Bounty was launched during the start of the fall 2015 semester. Now, nearly a dozen additional businesses have signed on to participate in the program, expanding dining options for students.

The Mountaineer Card Office has processed more than 20 thousand transactions totaling more than $178 thousand since the fall 2015 semester when they first launched the program.

Mountie Bounty is a pre-paid account that works like a debit card. The plan allows parents and students to add money to their Mountaineer Card to be used for services at dining hall facilities, campus restaurants, the WVU Bookstore, campus coffee shops and cafes, laundry facilities, printing at WVU computer labs, WVU pharmacy purchases and residence hall laundry facilities.

Several new merchants have been added including Sandwich University, Cold Stone Creamery and Morgan’s High Street Diner on High Street; IHOP at University Park on Oakland Street; Pizza Hut on Patteson Drive; Sheetz at University Place on University Avenue as well as on Beechurst Avenue close to the Westover Bridge; Little General Stores on Van Voorhis Road and Willey Street; Par Mar Store, Subway and Frank Anthony’s Pizza on Beechurst Avenue; The Cupcakerie on Willey Street; and the WVU Pharmacy at the Health and Education Building.

The plan can only be used for essential purchases. Items prohibited for sale with the Mountie Bounty plan include alcohol, tobacco products, firearms, adult magazines and lottery tickets.

The Mountaineer Card Office is continuing to work to create partnerships with local merchants as the off-campus expansion grows. Vendors interested in exploring partnership opportunities with the Mountie Bounty plan should contact the Mountaineer Card Office at 304-293-CARD or via email at WVUCard@mail.wvu.edu.
