Tuesday, Dec. 8
ART UP CLOSE: Rockwell Kent
Rockwell Kent’s “To Make Dream Homes Come True” will be the subject of the Art Museum of WVU’s next “Art Up Close!” event on Tuesday, Dec. 8. Art historian Eric Schruers will present “Rockwell Kent’s Lost Bituminous Coal Series Rediscovered,” beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Museum Education Center Grand Hall. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session and light refreshments will be served. Those attending will also be able to view the painting in the upper gallery of the museum. The event is free and open to the public.

CONCERT: Chamber Winds
WVU’s Chamber Winds ensemble will celebrate the work of French composers in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre at the Creative Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

Thursday, Dec. 10
LUNCHTIME LOOK: Jackie Tileston
The Art Museum of West Virginia University is now offering the public a chance to take a break from the busy workday to enjoy an artful lunch hour. A new series of programs, called “Lunchtime Looks,” will begin on Thursday, Dec. 10 at the museum. WVU students, faculty and staff, and members of the general public are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to the Museum Education Center Grand Hall at noon and meet with other art enthusiasts to enjoy their midday meal. At 12:30 p.m., the group will move to one of the museum’s galleries for a 20-minute, in-depth look at a work of art with one of the docents. The Dec. 10 session will feature Alison Deem talking about Jackie Tileston’s “Slipping on Petals” in the museum’s upper gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

LAURA MESAROS GALLERY: John Pe�a, Printmaker, Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Pe�a is a visual artist, illustrator and educator who makes art as a way of exploring the natural world and his daily interactions. He has attended a number of residencies including Skowhegan, Bemis & The Fine Arts Work Center. He was also the recipient of the 2012 Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award as an Emerging Artist and recently created an artwork for the Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh.

PAUL MESAROS GALLERY: Jen Mussari, Graphic Designer, Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Jen Mussari is a designer, lettering artist, and illustrator, who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Some of the clients she has collaborated with include Squarespace, Airbnb, Kickstarter, Shopify, Patagonia, the Art Director’s Club, EMI, Capitol Records, Target, West Elm, Penguin Books, Adobe, LOGAN, Pentagram, 72andSunny, CreativeMornings, and Smilebooth.
