An acclaimed international music performer and producer will address West Virginia University’s nearly 3,000 August and December 2015 graduates during a commencement ceremony Friday, Dec. 18.

Darko Velichkovski, director of the Music Industry program in WVU’s College of Creative Arts, will charge WVU’s newest graduates with a call for success in their post-college lives.

The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. inside the WVU Coliseum and will begin with welcoming remarks from President Gordon Gee.

Students planning to participate must register at http://graduation.wvu.edu/convocation by Tuesday (Dec. 8).

Velichkovski began his music studies at the age of seven, earned degrees from Julliard and the City University of New York and performed around the world. In 2013, Velichkovski joined the University and is now director of the Music Industry Program at the Creative Arts Center.

Graduates participating in Commencement are required to wear caps and gowns, which may be purchased from the WVU Bookstore. Latin honor cords are distributed by the schools and colleges prior to the ceremony.

To arrange accommodations for graduates or guests with disabilities, contact WVU’s Office of Accessibility Services at http://accessibilityservices.wvu.edu/.

Free parking is available at the Coliseum. Additional parking information can be found on the WVU Campus Map at http://beta.campusmap.wvu.edu/.

The University reminds graduates that participation in Commencement exercises does not guarantee the completion of a WVU degree. Diplomas will be mailed after all grades are finalized and certified by WVU’s Office of the University Registrar.
