Tuesday, Nov. 10
CONCERT: WVU Symphonic Band
The West Virginia University Symphonic Band will feature Bach, Rachmaninoff, and Sousa, among others, in an upcoming concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre in WVU’s Creative Arts Center. For tickets, call the WVU Box office at 304.293.SHOW. Admission is free for WVU students presenting a valid ID.

Thursday, Nov. 12
VISITING ARTIST LECTURE: Jen Mussari
Freelance graphic designer Jen Mussari will speak about her work as part of the School of Art & Design’s 2015-2016 Visiting Artist Lecture Series at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, in Bloch Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center. The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the lecture.

CONCERT: WVU Percussion Ensemble
The WVU Percussion Ensemble will present its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre of the Creative Arts Center. For tickets, call the WVU Box office at 304.293.SHOW. Admission is free for WVU students presenting a valid ID.

Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13
CONCERT: A Celebration of Dance
A semester’s worth of work will culminate for dance students at the Celebration of Dance concerts featuring twelve original works by student choreographers. The concerts will be held at 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13, in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre in WVU’s Creative Arts Center. Visiting students from Paraguay will also present a folk dance in traditional dress to traditional music. For tickets, call the WVU Box Office at 304.293.SHOW.

Friday, Nov. 13
ALUMNI-IN-RESIDENCE: Michael Chioldi, Baritone
One of the most sought-after dramatic baritones of his generation will return to his alma mater to mentor young singers and musicians. Michael Chioldi, a Pittsburgh area native who earned his bachelor’s degree in music from WVU and his master’s degree from Yale, will return to the Creative Arts Center on Friday, Nov. 13, to present a master class from 1-3 p.m. in Bloch Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center, and a question-and-answer session at 4 p.m. in the Antoinette E. Falbo Theatre. The events are free and open to the public.

LECTURE: Byron Adams, Visiting Composer
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will sponsor a lecture – by American composer Byron Adams and Maestro Grant Cooper discussing “The Role of the Composer in the 21st Century” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in 424A Creative Arts Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

CONCERT: West Virginia Symphony Orchestra
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will launch its WVU concert series with “From the New World” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre in the Creative Arts Center. Students and faculty from any school with school ID can receive free tickets and must be redeemed at the WVU Arts and Entertainment Box Office. Residents with a West Virginia Driver’s License will receive $10 off their ticket price but this offer must also be redeemed at the A&E Box Office. SCREENING: For Her
“For Her,” a tale of love, loss, and addiction, will be screened at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in Bloch Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center. The short film, by former WVU School of Theatre & Dance student Matthew McCurdy, focuses on a family’s fight to overcome the alcoholism that’s tearing them apart. The screening is free and open to the public.

Friday, Nov. 13-Sunday, Nov. 15
LAB THEATRE: She Kills Monsters
WVU’s Lab Theatre season will open with Qui Nguyen’s “She Kills Monsters,” a comedy that dives deep into geek culture. The play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13-14, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Vivian Davis Michael Theatre in the Creative Arts Center. Lab Theatre productions are free and open to the public.

LAURA MESAROS GALLERY: John Pe�a [Snippet Error: Invalid ID. Try editing the snippet again.], Printmaker, Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Pe�a is a visual artist, illustrator and educator who makes art as a way of exploring the natural world and his daily interactions. He has attended a number of residencies including Skowhegan, Bemis & The Fine Arts Work Center. He was also the recipient of the 2012 Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award as an Emerging Artist and recently created an artwork for the Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh.

PAUL MESAROS GALLERY: Jen Mussari, Graphic Designer, Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Jen Mussari is a designer, lettering artist, and illustrator, who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Some of the clients she has collaborated with include Squarespace, Airbnb, Kickstarter, Shopify, Patagonia, the Art Director’s Club, EMI, Capitol Records, Target, West Elm, Penguin Books, Adobe, LOGAN, Pentagram, 72andSunny, CreativeMornings, and Smilebooth.
