Blaire Rigney and Joe Rosati have been announced as West Virginia University’s 2015 Homecoming king and queen.

Rigney and Rosati were crowned during halftime of the WVU-Oklahoma State football game tonight (Oct. 10) at Milan Puskar Stadium.

The king and queen were selected by a vote of their peers, as WVU students had the opportunity to vote for one king and one queen candidate Oct. 6-7.

Rigney, a dual major in animal and nutritional science and pre-occupational therapy from South Charleston, serves as the vice president of the Chi Omega sorority. She is also a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs and the WVU Fishing Club. She is involved in philanthropy, including serving as a volunteer for the Therapeutic Horsemanship Center in Fairmont. She is sponsored by Chi Omega sorority.

Rosati, a finance major with a music performance minor from Ganesvoort, NY, serves as the secretary of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He formerly served as treasurer and philanthropy chair, helping to organize the first annual Fireman’s Challenge. He is also the treasurer of Beta Alpha Psi, a business information honor society organization. He has also served as vice president of finance of the Interfraternity Council and is a violinist in the WVU Symphony Orchestra. Rosati is sponsored by Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Other king candidates were: Ansh Kumar, petroleum and natural gas engineering major from Charleston; Julius McCall, international busines major from Willow Grove, PA; John Rendinell, mathematics major from South Charleston; Jon Salazar, civil engineering major from South Charleston.

Other queen candidates were: Deonna Gandy, business major from Pittsburgh, PA; Amanda Hutchinson, sport and exercise psychology major from Dingsman Ferry, PA; Ellen Walburn, English and political science major from Martinsburg; Justine Schultz, aerospace and mechanical engineering major from Stewartsville, NJ.

WVU Athletic Director Shane Lyons served as the Homecoming parade grand marshal Friday evening (Oct. 9).

Derek Bonner, Jeanne Carter, Jim and Karen Caveney, Lyn Dotson, Ed McMahon and the Boone County Chapter were honored as part of the 2015 WVU Alumni Association’s Chapter and Service Awards at halftime. For more on these honorees, visit here.
