The annual Clery Report for West Virginia University, reviewing crime on the Morgantown campus, is now available from University Police.

The report, which shows a downward trend in several areas, is required by the federal Clery Act, and includes WVU campus crime statistics for 2012-2014. It is distributed to all WVU students, faculty and staff.

“Our crime rate is considerably lower than our peer institutions and this fact can be attributed to our local area and community that we serve,” Chief Bob Roberts said. “Crime rates are normally a reflection of the partnerships between WVU, the community and the police. When police are proactive and their community is engaged in preventing and reporting crimes, then we see safer communities” Roberts added.

Information about WVU policies related to campus security, alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of sexual assault, and other crimes are included in the report. The report also includes information about support services that are available, and important phone numbers to call. The information can be accessed via the Internet at the following website: http://police.wvu.edu/clery-act

A copy of the report is also available by request. Contact Sergeant Chad Barker at 304.293.COPS (2677) or email at: Chad.Barker@mail.wvu.edu.
