To promote safe driving awareness, West Virginia University Police will offer two driving simulators for the public from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 22) at the Mountainlair.

There will be a defensive driving simulator at the front of the Mountainlair operated by Sgt. P. Lemon, in addition to a texting simulator inside the Vandalia Lounge.

The texting simulator puts people in “real” situations where they are texting and driving. The simulator will demonstrate how difficult and dangerous it is to text and drive.

“The importance of the simulators allows individuals to experience ‘real’ and often fatal situations without the permanent outcome when they choose to get behind the wheel,” said Sgt. H. Ruggiero, of WVU Police.
