Dr. Robert Orlikoff’s new role in as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the College of Education and Human Services was effective Aug. 1, 2015.

An internationally recognized voice scientist and laryngeal physiologist, Orlikoff has served as chair of the department of communication sciences and disorders since joining the WVU faculty in 2008. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University before completing his M.S. in speech-language pathology and Ph.D. in speech and voice physiology at Columbia University. Orlikoff currently serves as a program accreditation site visitor for the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

For the 2015-2016 academic year, Dr. Orlikoff will serve as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, as well as Chair of the department of communication sciences disorders. He is looking forward to working with Dean Gypsy Denzine to establish new interdisciplinary and inter-professional education initiatives.

Enhancing collaboration and communication will be among Orlikoff’s highest priorities as he works with Dean Denzine to move CEHS forward with respect to student and faculty recruitment and success, program assessment, advising, marketing, and outreach, as well as funding and development.

As he works to expand his administrative efforts across the diverse programs across CEHS, Orlikoff says his main goal it to make a difference for students who are looking to make a difference themselves.

“Our common goal remains to prepare students who wish to enter a ‘helping profession’ to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” said Orlikoff.

Orlikoff is married to Dr. Jennifer Orlikoff, past chair of the WVU Faculty Senate and director of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. They have three children who are all graduates of WVU.
