Visitors to the West Virginia University Building at the State Fair, Aug. 14 – 23 in Fairlea, can learn how WVU is cultivating West Virginia’s fearless spirit of innovation, while connecting with college representatives and playing interactive games.

The WVU Building is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the exception of the final day of the fair when the building closes at 5 p.m.

Visitors can explore options for going to college, financing their education, connecting with alumni and learning about majors all with a visit to the WVU exhibits.

Daily prize drawings happen at noon and 5 p.m. Additional prize opportunities happen throughout the week with the #WVUFAIRFUN Selfie Challenge. Snap a photo with the exhibit or the day and tag with #WVUFAIRFUN for a chance to win.

Activities and exhibits will change throughout the week. On the first weekend of the fair, visitors can view WVU Tech’s baja race car.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, WVU Mountaineer Mascot Michael Garcia and WVU President E. Gordon Gee will visit the WVU Building in the morning.

WVU Extension Service will provide advice and information on canning and food preservation; introduce families to new recipe ideas; and challenge them to label everyone’s favorite dairy cow, Mabel.

Fairgoers can also check out interactive exhibits from various other departments and colleges including WVU Extension; Academic Innovation College of Business and Economics College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Health Sciences Center Student Life University College RBA Center for Excellence in Disabilities WVU Office of Veterans Affairs WVU Libraries and Clinical and Pharmacologic Research Center.

The West Virginia Association of Counties; West Virginia Master Gardeners; West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office; and Zide’s Sports Shop will also be in the building.
