Reggae-rockers SOJA will play the Morgantown Metropolitan Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Showtime is set for 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at Ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 800-745-3000 and 304-293-SHOW (7469).

“I want to speak for people who don’t have microphones,” lead singer/songwriter Jacob Hemphill says. “Our goal as a band is to stick up for the human race. We see the world and we try to make it better in the limited time we have here.”

It’s this simple philosophy that has driven SOJA and their blend of reggae, go-go, D.C. hardcore, Latin, rock and hip-hop to develop a massive fan base around the world.

The group has sold more than 200,000 albums in more than 20 countries. SOJA’s sixth album, “Amid the Noise and Haste,” debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200, their highest debut spot to date, and also debuted at No. 1 on the Reggae Albums Chart. Their 2012 release “Strength to Survive” topped Billboard’s Reggae Albums Chart for nearly two years. The Pier, an online home for the reggae-rock community, named SOJA their 2014 Artist of the Year and the group regularly appears on NPR’s “World Caf.”

SOJA has toured with the Dave Matthews Band, Incubus and 311, and appeared at major music festivals, including Bonnaroo. Their live shows are an explosion of energy and positivity, using music as a means to help people relate in a more affirmative way. SOJA’s music is about finding happiness and peace and helping others do the same, something the band conveys in the songs on “Amid the Noise and Haste.”
